Minaret vs. 400 ökör

The northernmost Minaret in Europe can be found on Knezich K&ároly Street, which is a rare sight in our country. The Turks built places of worship, the Ketkuda Mosque and the Minaret next to it, from the terrace of which the mosque called its worshippers to prayer every day.
After the Turks left our country, Eger became a prosperous city again. They tried to tear down the Minaret with 400 stones, but it did not budge. On the crescent moon at the top we can see a cross, which refers to the return of the bishops and also symbolizes that the two religions can coexist.

The Minaret is 40 meters high and has 14 corners. 97 spiral staircases lead up to the unique view.
The original dome was destroyed by lightning strikes, and the current stone dome was built over it in order to protect the monuments.
Over the years, it had to be rebuilt many times, all of which was solved by reinforcing the walls from the inside, as they did not want to hide the characteristic external appearance. This technique, however, meant that the corridor became so narrow that people could not even pass each other. Of course, this is not an obstacle to seeing the panoramic view of Eger!
